Preschool: Jill and Jam
In the last two decades, obesity rates for preschoolers have increased significantly and rapidly. Obesity in young children can track to adulthood, which puts our future leaders at increased risk for chronic diseases like heart disease and Type II diabetes. But by this same logic, if we can teach young children about the important of healthy habits at a young age, we can set them up for a lifetime of success.

The Live Show:
Jill & Jam gets preschoolers singing and dancing their way to healthier habits. Jill croons about the important of eating breakfast, drinking more water, trying new foods, and doing her favorite exercise—the jumping jack!—as well as other kid favorites. Jill ends the show with all the kids on kazoo.

Elementary: Jump with Jill
Jump with Jill is a multimedia health program that teaches kids about nutrition through entertainment. Jump with Jill addresses an urgent need to connect with kids in a time when advertisements for high fat, high sugar foods and endless opportunities to choose the couch over physical activity are at an all-time high. Jill Jayne turns the media machine on its head to produce interactive media that gets kids engaged, moving and learning.

The Live Show
Jump with Jill is a rock ‘n roll nutrition concert. With microphone in hand, Jill gets kids learning about nutrition by moving to her original music. The interactive experience not only makes eating breakfast and drinking water cool, but helps increase retention of these important health messages. Since Jump with Jill’s inception three years ago, Jill has performed nearly 500 shows for almost 70,000 kids all over the United States.

The CD
Get Me Goin’ incorporates household items and body sounds to dabble in R&B, rock, jazz, Celtic music, rap, 90’s dance, punk and doo-wop. Wrapped in an educational package, the songs are written, recorded and produced with the Top 40 pop record formula using real instruments and real kids singing. The CD was officially released at the Food & Nutrition Conference & Expo (FNCE) 2008 sponsored by the American Dietetic Association where Jill performed for nutrition professionals from around the world. The music is now available through Amazon, iTunes, and free ringtones at www.jumpwithjill.com. Wholesale rates are available for school fundraisers, catalogs, and bulk orders. The music is also available for licensing.

Middle/High School: I Will Not Be Bought
Those darn kids. They never listen, yet teenagers are considered the most valuable demographic to advertisers, spending over $200 billion per year on snack food, clothing and entertainment. With discretionary income to buy all things rad, today’s teen consumer is a prime target for brands. In fact, one loyal, lifelong consumer is valued as high as $100,000 for a single retailer. They are listening to someone. Let it be us!

The Live Show
I Will Not Be Bought is an interactive, music-based performance focusing on the influence of advertising on body image, nutrition, substance abuse and peer pressure that tours through middle and high schools nationwide. With her band Sunset West, Jill has sold over 10,000 CDs of her original music, appeared on national television and toured with many contemporary artists teens know and love. Using these credentials and lots of hairspray, Sunset West can catch a teenager’s ear to explain the intentions and tools of advertising. The first half of the show is performed as an interactive slide show and lecture. The remaining time is for rocking out to a live music performance from Sunset West, a hula hoop contest and a candid question-and-answer period. As an addendum to the usual school day routine, Jill serves as an educated, relevant source for reading between the lines of teen-targeted advertising to help teens make healthier and more informed choices.

Surf School

Elementary/Middle/High School:
Surf School - a Guide to Navigating the ‘Net.
My Status is Freaked Out! Today’s generation of young people don’t know a world without the internet. They’re on Facebook, MySpace, and Twitter. And while we helpful for researching a term paper, the internet is also a web of weirdos waiting for our little social networkers to give TMI. One in five kids age 10-17 have been solicited to sexually online; three in four do not tell a parent. Most kids don’t report inappropriate internet content to their parents because they are afraid of losing internet privileges. The excess of exposure and the lack of communication and education on this topic calls for an engaging intervention.

The Live Show:
Surf School: A Guide to Safely Navigating the ‘Net uses music and an interactive discussion to address students on a peer level on how to enjoy the benefits of the internet while keeping safe. Creator Jill Jayne uses her academic and music credentials to deliver internet safety messages with a rock ‘n roll punch. Surf School acknowledges students as the leaders of the newest media, empowering them to take charge of communicating with their parents and trusted adults about their internet activities. The one hour presentation can be adapted for grades 5-12.
