The trilogy is complete! Just as D300 adds 15 more elementary schools to their HealthierUS School Challenge tally, the newest video in their community education series is complete. D300 presents Behind the Challenge: Jill Jayne takes a VH1-style behind-the-scenes look at the fated partnership between D300 and Jill Jayne that uniquely defined D300‘s Healthier US School Challenge nutrition curriculum: rock ‘n roll nutrition assemblies for all 17 elementary schools and an original viral video campaign to engage the D300 community.
ABOUT D300:
The Challenge is a voluntary USDA program that recognizes schools across the Nation that take specific steps to improve their nutrition and wellness environment and address childhood obesity. As of May 9, 2011 there were 1,001 awarded schools across the Nation with a total of 43 in Illinois. D300 now increases the Illinois total to 58 with 16, with D300 schools representing over 25% of the State’s total. D300’s Golfview Elementary was the first non-charter school in the state to be awarded the Challenge’s Gold with Distinction in January, 2011. Since that time, the District began serving their nutritionally improved USDA endorsed Gold level school lunches and implemented the nutrition education and PE requirements at their remaining elementary schools.
The District’s new healthy school lunch menus have been well received with help from The Rockstar Nutritionist’s concurrent nutrition education, which came in the form of a school-wide assembly at every D300 elementary school and a professionally produced video series to engage the entire D300 learning community around The Challenge. D300 has set the bar for how schools can join the HealthierUS School Challenge and the Let’s Move initiative of our First Lady Mrs. Obama.
